Cub-in-Flight-smallAs most of you have probably already discovered, water flying is absolutely magic! It transports you to grandeur that will take your breath away - to worlds of adventure and majesty that no other aircraft can duplicate. Whether you've long ago taken the "plunge" and are actively pursuing water-borne aviation, or you're a seaplane aficionado who simply loves the adventure and freedom of water flight, the Seaplane Pilots Association invites you to the most exciting realm of aviation. Welcome to our website and to the water world of seaplanes.

The Seaplane Pilots Association (SPA) is a non-profit organization serving the needs of the seaplane community throughout North America and globally. Incorporated in 1971 and guided by a ten-member Board of Directors, the primary mission of the Seaplane Pilots Association is Advocacy. Our mission is to be the voice of the seaplane community and to represent the interests of seaplane enthusiasts on the federal, state, and local levels. It includes ensuring fairness and equality for seaplanes to share public waterways with all other user groups. Other key elements of our Mission include Safety, Education, and Environmental Stewardship.

With corporate headquarters in Lakeland, Florida, SPA has established a network of Field Directors in every region of the U.S. as well as Canada (See Field Directors link at bottom of each website page). Field Directors are the local "feet-on-the-ground" for each area of the country, providing local knowledge of seaplane operational areas, insight into the pulse of regional aviation politics, and first-hand experience with local infrastructure. SPA Field Directors are experienced seaplane pilots in the core of the water flying action in your area and are ready to answer your questions, provide advise, and investigate problems - become acquainted with the SPA Field Director in your area.

The premier publication of the Seaplane Pilots Association is WaterFlying Magazine - the only nationally-published seaplane magazine in the world. For those who love seaplanes, WaterFlying Magazine is the "National Geographic" of water flying adventure and technical expertise - a treasure trove of spectacular imagery and engaging journalism! WaterFlying writers and photographers brilliantly capture the magic, heritage, and techniques of the world of seaplanes with distinction and pizzazz, winning the accolades of national publishers and top ranking journalists.

For the active pilot and for those exercising their "license to learn", SPA also publishes the Water Landing Directory, the nation's only resource for waterway regulations. The 325-page directory is an encyclopedia of quality waterway information, access regulations, shore side facilities, trip planning, and more. Used and recommended by nearly every seaplane school and commercial operation in North America. The brand new 2008/09 edition is just off the presses, with hundreds of new waterways, facilities, and other resources.

As Executive Director of the Seaplane Pilots Association, I want to personally extend you an invitation to join our team, the largest water flying organization in the world, consisting of thousands of pilots and seaplane lovers from nearly every continent. Click on the "Members" tab at the top of each page and we'll welcome you aboard - the water's great!
