Protecting Our Water Flying Heritage

The resources of the Association have been stretched thin by the escalating onslaught of anti-seaplane actions throughout North America.  The battles with regulators at every level are becoming more numerous and their impacts more far-reaching.  Like our fellow associations such as AOPA and EAA, the Seaplane Pilots Association has realized that annual membership dues alone are no longer sufficient to support the level of advocacy necessary to stem these disturbing trends.  

In order to strengthen the water flying advocacy capabilities of the Seaplane Pilots Association, the SPA board of directors authorized the formation of a non-profit foundation, charged with financial support of this critical mission.  During 2008 the IRS certified the SPA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.  The foundation was formed to provide support to enable SPA to broaden and intensify its advocacy initiatives to counteract increasing levels of seaplane access restrictions.
