Background:

Harold Clark learned started flight school in 1945, was training in seaplanes on Lake Union by 1946, and ultimately obtained an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP) in 1972. He worked for Boeing for short time before being drafted into the Army in 1951 and was shipped to Germany to monitor activity along the Berlin Wall. He returned to Boeing after being discharged in 1953, then moved through a variety of jobs before landing a job with Washington State in 1964 flying and maintaining C-45's on forest firefighting support missions. Over the following 29 years he flew aircraft including the Beechcraft E-90, Cessna 172, 182 and 500 jet, and a variety of Bell, Sikorsky, Kaman and Hiller helicopters. He retired in 1993 after helping Washington's aerial forest firefighting program grow from providing supplies to ground-based crews to operating a fleet of turbine helicopters equipped for fire suppression.

Harold owns a de Havilland Beaver, and enjoys building and flying model aircraft, programming personal computers, and of course flying his Beaver. He has about 12,000 flight hours in over 100 aircraft types, and has personally owned 31 airplanes. He is a certified Airframe and Powerplane Mechanic with Inspection Authorization.
