Amphib hydraulics - manual only?

I'm looking at amphib floats. One opinion I've heard is that a manual-only hydraulic system is simple, lighter, reliable, and low maintenance. I like all of that, although it also seems like a lot of work if I was busy in a tight area. Interested in any opinions on this.

Upshot is that I heard more preference for a manual-only system due to simplicity and weight. But a pump is certainly more convenient. No one expressed any concern about safety issues beyond normal amphib/gear in right position issues. I'm going with the manual-only because I need every pound of useful load.
