Flying America's Waterways
Seaplane pilots are familiar with the safety, abilities, and limitations of their aircraft,
but the majority of the population is not. Flying America's Waterways is a brief
video produced to answer common questions asked by the non-flying public and ease tensions
generated by fear of the unknown.
Topics covered in the ten minute video include seaplane safety statistics, environmental
impact, noise, the size of the seaplane pilot population, and how seaplanes are used to make
people's lives better. Particular emphasis is given to how seaplanes interact with
communities.
The video is distributed with a 16-page
companion booklet
(PDF, 522KB)
that goes into greater detail on
the topics covered in the video, including case studies and general statistical information.
A deluxe package is available that includes the video, companion booklet, the
Seaplane Compatibility Issues Report,
an environmental issues summary, and the FAA's Seaplane Base Advisory Circular. The deluxe
package is particularly useful for individuals interested in establishing or maintaining
seaplane facilities.
Copies of the video are available for $10 to members and $15 to non-members. The deluxe
package is available for $35 to members and $50 to non-members. Copies of the video are
free to members and policymakers involved in regulatory issues or other worthy causes.
